Inspired by historical finds and crafted with great attention to detail, these Viking pants combine historical design with modern craftsmanship.
The pants are made of 100% wool in a diamond twill weave and have a high-quality finish with a comfortable fit. The small pattern of offset lozenges, arranged in offset rows, becomes particularly apparent due to the use of light and dark brown in the warp and weft. The wool’s natural insulating qualities also make these trousers the ideal choice for colder days.
The trousers have a wide, baggy cut around the hips and thighs, tapering significantly from the knees down and ending in a split hem. This practical detail makes it easier to wear leg wraps and ensures the trousers can be easily pulled over shoes. For an authentic look, it is recommended combining them with winingas (leg wraps).
The elastic waistband is fitted with a drawstring for an adjustable, comfortable fit. Discreet side pockets add both style and practicality to the design.
Due to their classic cut, these trousers suit both men and women, making them the perfect base for a variety of Viking attire.
The pants were inspired by the Viking Rus’ (ca. 8th to 11th c.). It is believed that the Rus’ people were originally Scandinavians, more precisely Swedish Vikings, who crossed the Baltic Sea and raided their way through Eastern Europe, where they eventually established trading settlements and gradually assimilated with the local, mostly Slavic population. Pictorial evidence of the existence of loose-fitted Viking trousers can be found for example on some of the picture stones of Gotland (Broa, 8th c.).
