Viking beard and hair bead with Thor's Hammer, made of bronze

A Viking ornamental bead made from bronze with a Mjölnir motif.

Mjölnir is also a symbolic representation of Thor. According to Norse mythology, the so-called Uru hammer was forged out of Uru ore by the dwarves Sindri and Brokkr.

When thrown, it has the unique property of never missing its target and will always return to the thrower's hand. This makes it a mighty weapon which can only be wielded by Thor himself.

It symbolises strength and vigour, but might have also stood for fertility and the sanctification of marriage.

The inner diameter for this Viking bead is 0.6 cm.
