This wearable reconstruction of Late Medieval plate armour for the shoulders are made from 1.2 mm steel and blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance. The pauldrons (sometimes spelt pouldrons or powldrons) show the typical multi-layered look of the Gothic plate armours of the Late Middle Ages (15th/16th c.). The spaulders consist of 11 segments – a large main plate for the shoulder, three top sliding plates or lames, and seven bottom lames, all connected by rivets. Each pauldron is equipped with an adjustable, sturdy leather strap with a brass buckle, for a comfortable, custom fit at the upper arm level. The braided cords at the top and bottom edge at the spaulder allow for a proper attachment to other plate armour parts, like a gorget, a bevor, a breastplate, or a gambeson.
These shoulder plates are ideal for Late Medieval and Renaissance settings. Equally suited for the portrayal of a broad array of historical figures and fictional/fantasy characters,
The shoulder plates are sold as a pair.
Please Note:
To ensure that this armour is the right fit for you, please remember to take your measurements over your gambeson and/or any piece of clothing or chain mail you may plan to wear underneath!
Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
The steel used is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain plate armour on a regular basis, for example using a diy oil which is ideally suited for steel care.
