This Medieval Long sword makes the perfect gift for Medieval enthusiasts and sword collectors, and is an ideal addition to your medieval attire.
This sword is a faithful reconstruction of a historical original now housed in the Musée de Cluny, the French National Museum of the Middle Ages in Paris. The original is believed to have been forged in Germany and is dated to the 15th century.
The approx. 89 cm long, double-edged high carbon steel blade with flattened diamond cross-section sports both a gentle profile and distal taper towards the point. It is full-tanged and riveted to the pommel. The cutting edges are not sharpened and the blade tip is rounded, making the sword suitable for both light combat re-enactment and also for use as a collector’s item or display piece.
The hilt consists of a wooden grip wrapped in leather, which provides a secure and comfortable grip even during extended use. The cross guard and disc pommel are both made of blackened steel. A distinctive feature of this sword is it's S-shaped cross guard. As on the original, the sides of the pommel are decorated with finely grooved detailing.
The sword comes complete with a wooden scabbard covered in red leather. The throat and chape are made from blackened steel. Attached to the cross guard is a traditional rain guard, which is shaped to cover the mouth of the scabbard like a lid, providing additional protection for the blade while sheathed.
This Medieval sword is not only ideal for combat re-enactment, stage fighting or sparring, but also as a collectible, decoration/display piece or prop, e.g. to complete your costume.
The steel used is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain the blade on a regular basis, for example using a Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
