This coif is made from solid canvas and lined with a light cotton fabric.
The two attached straps can be fastened if desired. Wearing of head attire was common in the Middle Ages for both sexes. Coif's of this kind were mostly popular with men and children of all classes. The lower class wore them for work, middle class often as under-hood and above the actual headgear, knights under the chain mail coif and kings carried them under their crown.
