Helmet Sizing Guide
Our helmets are measured in three dimensions as shown below.
Our helmets are measured in three dimensions as shown below.
If some of our helmet sizing shows 61cm for Medium and 64cm for Large these are international sizing and 3-4cm should be added therefore Medium would be approx.64cm and Large would be approx. 67cm
Circumference is measured inside the liner and when assessing the correct size you must take into account what you intend to wear beneath the helmet, be it a linen cap, padded arming cap or maille coif If you intend to wear any combination of these you must first put these on before measuring to assess the correct size.
Forehead to Back is measured as an imaginary straight line from the most prominent part of your forehead to the most prominent area of the back of your skull, again, this measurement should be taken over and items to be worn beneath the helmet.
The measurement is easiest taken using a piece of wire i.e.. a coat hanger bent so that it touches your head at both points then measure the gap.
Side to Side is measured as an imaginary straight line from ear to ear, again, this measurement should be taken over and items to be worn beneath the helmet.
As above the measurement is easiest taken using a piece of wire i.e.. a coat hanger bent so that it touches your head at both points then measure the gap.
Note: If you are an "In between" size it is always best to air on the larger size as the helmet can be lined with a band of sheepskin trimmed to give a snug fit.
All helmets are hand made therefore have an individuality to them so all sizes given are approximate but normally within a few millimeters of the size stated.
