This so-called Bobruysk helmet takes its name from the region around Bobruysk, Belarus, where an exceptionally well-preserved helmet was discovered during excavations in 2019. The original find has been dated to the late 10th or early 11th century. Made of iron and decorated with bronze elements, it is a fine example of Early Medieval Eastern European helmets. Its distinctive pointed shape is characteristic of Early Medieval helmets from the region and reflects influences from the early Rus’, the steppe nomads, and Scandinavian culture.

This detailed reproduction faithfully recreates the characteristic features of the historical original. The helmet is carefully handcrafted from brass sheet and decorated with steel fittings and copper-coloured reinforcing bands. Particularly striking are the numerous rivets, the decorative metal ornaments on the front and sides, and the distinctive pointed tip. The inside features an adjustable leather liner for a comfortable, individual fit. A  leather chin strap with a brass buckle ensures a secure fit and completes the authentic design.

The helmet is fully wearable and is ideal for re-enactment, LARP, stage, or TV/film. It is particularly well suited to depictions of the Early Rus and Medieval Eastern Europe. It also makes an excellent collection piece.

The steel used  is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. It is recommended that you maintain helmets (and armour in general) on a regular basis, for example using a Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
