Welcome to GETDRESSEDFORBATTLE®™ re enactment supplies Flat Ring Dome Riveted Chainmail section.
In this section you will find our range of Flat Ring Dome Riveted Chainmail perfect chainmail for the Viking Period through to the Crusades and arguably beyond.
From examples known, researchers say that Chainmail of these periods were predominantly constructed in a similar way, i.e. Flattened or partially flattened rings in alternating rows of riveted (FRM) and solid punched rings or all riveted and closed using dome head rivets (FRR).
This subject is wide open but we feel that this Flat Ring Dome Riveted Chainmail gives a reasonable representation of the Chainmail from these periods within the constraints of production techniques against cost, to bring you the best and most affordable Chainmail of the day.
The construction of this style of Chainmail is in the 4 in 1 pattern and is of Mild Steel wire 1.2mm in diameter, i.e. 18 gauge and wound and flattened to produce rings that are 8mm internal diameter and riveted together using dome head rivets with alternating rows of solid punched rings or in the all riveted style.
The Chainmail is supplied burnished to give a grey finish.
